You can wear this alone to instantly brighten the under eye area, or use it under your concealer to make sure it lasts all day and has a fresh look. Thanks for the review. I wondered about this. I have combo but more dry skin and I was debating on this one. I also have large pores and am thinking about the pore minimizing primer they have out. Do you like it that one? Also, what misting/setting spray would you recommend that’s alcohol free but sets makeup and can be used throughout the day? I use skindinavia but it has alcohol and I’m trying to get away from using alcohol on my face. Thanks!

While makeup primer might seem like an optional makeup product—one best saved for special occasions—its unique benefits, like helping makeup last longer and creating a smooth base for application, make it worth keeping on hand for daily use. But not all primers are created equal. The best water-based primer can be a gamechanger for your makeup routine; formulated with water versus oil or silicone, it’s a great option to consider if you’re not a fan of the texture, weight, or feel of the average primer. Perfect for those who struggle with the appearance of enlarged pores and excess sebum production, Filorga Pore-Express Regulating Primer works to balance and even out oily and combination complexions to enhance makeup application. I echo the above comments. And great review btw. This is a big pass for me. I really thought this was some revolutionary primer, and given that its silicone-free, I was anxious to try it. But it sounds like fragranced water to me too. Such a misleading name IMO.

I havent tried it for what it was made for, but it works wonderfully as a setting spray, and my ridiculously sensitive skin didnt react to it, as it does almost everything else I use. The idea behind Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water is interesting and maybe even sounds fresh and unique. But in the end, it’s just another facial mist and happens to be one that’s a bit on uneventful and falls flat in its performance. So you know, I’m a total facial mist h0r. I love them. I use them in the Summer after my shower to refresh my face and add moisture, I use at night prior to my skincare regime, I use them in the Winter before any skincare or makeup to allow my skincare to absorb more easily…! I love them! Smashbox have a primer range to be proud of, boasting a grand total of around 12 primers, each made to meet different needs. my pleasure Katherine, might I suggest these for a super hydrating facial mist: https://www.musingsofamuse.com/2014/02/hydrating-facial-mists-recommendations.html That’s weird. You’re going to head in store anyway and see them lol! unfortunately the ones I recommend have some fragrance in them 🙁 Juice beauty does make one without fragrance but I can’t recommend it, never tried it 🙁 but maybe give that a whirl!? On top of that, they can amp up the rest of your routine. Not only does primer leave skin feeling soft and smooth, it can also provide a more seamless makeup application (no streaks in sight!). Some formulas can even double as a moisturizer. “They hydrate without adding an extra texture to the skin,” says Davis. She recommends applying it to the center of your face and then blending it out. Keep in mind: Your face primer should have a similar base as your foundation—so if you’re wearing a water-based foundation, a water-based primer will give you the best results and help nix pilling. Every primer is designed for a specific skin type. For example, if your skin is dry, you'll want to avoid primers with a matte finish or ones that are too lightweight to give you a deep hydration. The Photo Finish Primer was originally created by Smashbox to reduce the amount of time spent having to touch up beauty shots, by giving models a 'Photo Finish' before the camera had even got going.

Some primers are so hydrating that they can double as a moisturiser which is the only scenario when you would apply it straight after cleansing, if you're not planning on using any other face creams. A cream blush that also works on lips? Give it to me. A moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF? Sign me up—I'm a huge fan of any great product that simplifies my routine and/or has added benefits I never knew I needed. I didn’t feel this formula was hydrating at all. It’s actually kinda mattifying to me as it seems to absorb access oil on my forehead and t-zone area when I mist it on. I tried it prior as a prep prior to skincare which is what I typically do with facial mists. It didn’t really ease the way for my moisturizer or aid it to absorb more easily. As I said, it seemed to actually remove a little moisture from my skin versus adding it. I also tried it after skincare as a prep for makeup but again, I felt a little disappointed. If you have oily skin you might feel like it’s an excellent prep for your makeup as it does seem to absorb excess oil and shine creating a semi-matte finish once it dries down. Finally I tried it as a setting spray and felt like it did an ok job at setting makeup and also refined the look of powder on my drier skin so it appeared more luminous with less of a drier finish. I didn’t any major extension in the wear of my makeup after setting with this.Refresh and prep your skin in one simple step with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water.
